ENM 12013 Sri Lankan Literature in English

This course offers the students an overview of a series of predominant literary works and writers who can be identified with regard to Sri Lankan Literature in English. It incorporates selected poetry, short stories and novels by taking the modern period as a point of departure to provide a comprehensive study of Sri Lankan Literature in English. The students are introduced to the study of these literary works in terms of providing an understanding of the trends and hiatuses as well as the socio-political and historical factors in Sri Lanka which have shaped these writings.
