Electronic Commerce (EC) is a strategy for boosting a company's competitiveness by utilising modern information and communication technology within the business as well as outside the business, via linkages to business partners and customers. Managers and other decision-makers need to be aware of not just how to automate outmoded business procedures by employing modern techniques, but also how to reorganise and modify already-in-place procedures in order to make the most of enterprise computing (EC).
